How many people can Villa Pura Vida sleep?
Five bedrooms, plus a downstairs apartment that can serve as a sixth. Tell us your group size and we will confirm the sleeping arrangements.
Where exactly is the villa?
In the hills above Playa Ocotal, Guanacaste. Beach 700 m, Playas del Coco 10 minutes, Liberia airport about 45.
How far is it from Liberia airport?
34 km, 40 to 50 minutes. Transfers can be arranged.
What is included?
Every stay is all-inclusive: three meals a day from a private chef, drinks including alcohol, a bartender and concierge, and cleaning service.
Is there a minimum stay?
Yes. Five nights, and a minimum of six guests.
Is there a pool?
Yes, with a waterfall jacuzzi, under the rancho.
Can you see the ocean from the villa?
Yes, from both terraces and the pool.
Is Playa Ocotal a good beach for swimming?
Yes. Calm, sheltered cove with dark sand and snorkeling at the rocks. Surf is 90 minutes away at Tamarindo.
Do I need a rental car?
Not necessarily. Transfers, tours, taxis, and Uber all work from here. A car helps for exploring.
Is the internet good enough for remote work?
300 Mbps fiber, a desk, Ethernet, and a backup generator.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in 4 PM, check-out 10 AM. Ask about early arrival or late departure.
Are children welcome?
Yes. Travel crib on request. Note the pool is unfenced and there is one flight of stairs.
Are pets allowed?
No.
Is smoking allowed?
Not indoors. Quiet hours 10 PM to 7 AM.

When is the best time to visit Playa Ocotal?
December to April for guaranteed sun. May to November for green hills, lower rates, and the best offshore fishing. September and October are the wettest.
What is the weather like in Guanacaste in July?
Highs around 90°F, sunny mornings, a shower most afternoons, often a dry week or two. Sea about 82°F.
What can you fish for near Ocotal, and when?
Sailfish May to August, marlin November to March, tuna August to October, dorado and wahoo May to October, roosterfish all year.
What are the Papagayo winds?
Dry trade winds from late December to March. Cool on land, choppy offshore some days. The beaches are sheltered.
